DOG BREED
The nomadic herders of Central Asia—the areas presently referred to as Kazakhstan, Turkmenistan, Tajikistan, Uzbekistan, and Kyrgyzstan—have relied on this type of dog to safeguard their herds for centuries. Once selectively bred in the former Soviet Union, this uncommon breed requires early socialization. There are two types of coats: short and long.
