DOG BREED
Bred in the Swiss Alps, this huge, strong, imposing dog was once used to pull wagons loaded with milk, cheese, and other products. The Greater Swiss Mountain Dog was also used for cattle herding and guard duty. This dog nearly disappeared in the early 20th century, but breeding by enthusiasts saved it from extinction; however, it is still rare. A true working dog, the Greater Swiss Mountain Dog has a friendly temperament that makes it a sociable family companion for those with space to spare.
