DOG BREED
In the mountainous Carpathian region of Romania, shepherds depend on large, strong dogs to protect their flocks in all weather conditions. Regional breeding has resulted in several different types: the Carpathian, the Bukovina, and the Mioritic. All of these are better suited for the outdoors than the indoors, and none of these are widely known as companion dogs. With strong watchdog instincts, Romanian Shepherd Dogs are highly territorial and suspicious of strangers. They require plenty of physical and mental activity, as well as early socialization and firm training.
