DOG BREED
Not advisable for the average owner, this breed demands experienced handling. The forebears of the American Pit Bull Terrier were dogs introduced to the U.S. by Irish immigrants during the 19th century. While it was originally bred for fighting, this dog became highly valued as a working companion or family pet. This breed has recently acquired a reputation for aggression, which is strongly denied by its supporters.
