DOG BREED
Once widely used for herding and guarding cattle, this breed, also known as the Australian Heeler, is little known outside its native country. As a family dog it has many qualities, being courageous, alert, friendly and loyal and devoted to its owner. However, a ancestry that includes the dingo (Australia's wild dog) has made the Australian Cattle Dog naturally suspicious of strangers. Bred to work hard all day and travel long distances, no exercise is too much for this energetic dog. Training is not difficult, as the dog is highly intelligent and eager to please.
