DOG BREED
Named after its home village in the mountains of northern Portugal, this dog, sometimes also called the Portuguese Cattle Dog, was bred to work as a livestock-guardian. Its distinctive alarm bark begins in a low tone and ends in a high pitched bark. This dog develops a strong bond with family members, but can be hostile toward strangers.
