DESCRIPTION

Merciless and determined when hunting, this hound is attentive and alert in the home environment. This muscular, striped hound is primarily utilized for hunting raccoons, but it also hunts big cats, bears, coyotes, and wild boar. It is among the few breeds recognized as being native to America. The first Plott Hound was developed in the Smoky Mountains during the 1750s by the Plott family, who used boar-hunting Hanoverian hounds imported from Germany.
