DOG BREED
Previously known as the Illyrian Shepherd Dog, this impressive breed is now named after the Sarplanina Mountains of Macedonia where it originated. The Sarplaninac is a very outdoorsy, working dog. While it has a friendly, albeit protective, temperament, its size and energy level make it impractical as a family pet.
